ReadingProfessor Ahiaoma Ibegwam is a Chartered Librarian of Nigeria (CLN, MNIM), B.A., History Hons, MLS (U.I.); Med Edu. Admin.(Unilag); Ph.D.(U.I.). Ahiaoma commenced her education in the United states at Volmer Elementary School, David B. Elementary Schools and Burger Junior High School, all in New York. She finished her secondary education in Nigeria at the Holy Child College, Lagos. She bagged a B.A, honours degree from the University of Calabar. Her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Lagos. Her Masters of Library and Information Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are from the University of Ibadan.
She was the University Librarian of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) between June,2010- June, 2015. She spent about two decades with the College of Medicine, University of Lagos rising from librarian two to Principal Medical Librarian/Acting Medical Librarian in 2003. She became a professor of library and information Science in 2015 at MOUAU. Ibegwam was a two term Assistant General Secretary of the NLA Lagos chapter and the first Vice Chairman, Association for Health Information Libraries in Africa (AHILA, Nigeria). She has attended several national and international conferences including IFLA- Women Information and Libraries Special Interest Group Satellite Conference in Tampere, Finland 8-10 August 2012. She has also chaired AD HOC University COMMITTEEs including Chairman, Committee on Disengaging AFRI-HUB from MOUAU ICT.
She has published with over 75 publications in local and international peer-reviewed journals many of which are open access in this knowledgebase. She is an editor for many peer reviewed journals and has edited several books. She has also enjoyed research grants including Award of Special Research Grant, Central Research Committee, UNILAG for the Study of the Role of Health Science Librarians in Health Education(1996). Professional reviews of papers for reputable journals include British Journal of Education, Society and Behavourial Science(BJESBS).
